About Dr. Mila Senem Leveson
Dr. Leveson is a Consultant General Adult and Liaison Psychiatrist at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. She undertakes private work at the Priory Wellbeing Centre, Harley Street and remotely.
Dr. Leveson centres her practice around an integrated, holistic approach to tailor treatment for the individual, to suit their specific needs. She is well known by her patients for understanding how the individual’s biological, social and personal circumstances can contribute to the individual’s mental health issues, and providing appropriate support. Her clinical interests include the presentation of autism in women, adult ADHD and the manifestation of mental health struggles in the international and ex-patriate community.
Dr. Leveson studied at the American Academy in Istanbul. She earned her bachelor’s degree in medicine at the University of Cambridge. She trained in internal medicine and joined the Royal College of Physicians. She subsequently specialised in General Adult Psychiatry. She gained membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015.
Dr. Leveson then undertook further training at the Halliwick Unit, where she gained knowledge and expertise in mentalisation based therapy and the treatment and management of personality disorders. She has undertaken training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, as well as the Helen Bamber Foundation Charity. Since her Consultant appointment, Dr. Leveson has worked in the diagnosis and management of acute presentations of mental illness of inpatients and in the liaison service, looking after the mental health needs of patients in the general hospital admitted with medical and surgical conditions.
Dr Leveson is experienced in the diagnoses and management of adult autism and ADHD. She is ADOS-2 trained. She has worked in her Trust’s adult ADHD and autism assessment services.
Alongside her clinical roles, Dr Leveson is a chief clinical informatics officer in her Trust and recently been appointed as a national Topol digital fellow. She previously worked as the academic and educational lead for psychiatric core trainees. She is also undertaking her Masters Degree in Mental Health Research at University College London.
Dr Leveson has trained in and experience of writing medico-legal reports.
Training
Dr Leveson was born and educated in Istanbul before moving to England in her teens. She studied medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2008. She initially specialised in internal medicine and gained membership to the Royal College of Physicians. Following this, she worked as Clinical Lecturer at St George’s University Medical School, in charge of clinical skills teaching for Year 2 Medical Students. She then completed her core and specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry in Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, gaining membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2015.
Dr Leveson has undertaken specialist work in personality disorders and trained in mentalisation based therapy at the Halliwick Unit. She trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Tavistock NSH Foundation Trust where she also worked in the Gender Identity Development Service and researched the presentation of gender dysphoria in looked-after and adopted children. She completed theoretical training in forensic psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Portman Clinic.

- Dr Leveson is currently undertaking the MSc in Mental Health Sciences Research at University College London Division of Psychiatry.
